Twitch adds Creative Category

Twitch embraces the Creative side of their community with a new category!

Today would have been the 73rd birthday of Bob Ross, an American painter, art instructor, and television host. And in celebration with The Joy of Painting, Twitch officially launched the Twitch Creative community. Now the community of artists, crafters, and builders can safely share their creative processes alongside fellow Twitch broadcasters.

There is a brand new landing page for the Creative category that includes a dedicated Feature Video carousel to highlight interesting creative broadcasts. Much like Gaming Talk Shows and Music, the Creative category can be found in the directory section of Twitch.

Creative broadcasters will be able to use a unique tagging system for their videos. This will help identify the activity they’re engaged in such as #drawing, #animation, #development, etc.. This tagging system is unlock anything else in the Twitch community, so it will be interesting to see how it grows and works.

This is exciting news since Twitch previously had a clause in their Rules Of Conduct that required a game to be played periodically while using their broadcasting site. Since then, the Rules Of Conduct have been updated to reflect the official embrace for the Creative community. Be aware that while the rules may be vague, it is important to remain within their structure while sharing.

Happy trees, Twitch Creative!
